The start of a new year is often a time of reflection, which over the past 12 months, held a struggling real estate market in my market area. Thankfully, reflection also brings about anticipation and optimism for the year to come. In lieu of our new year approaching, I’ve decided to put together 11 residential real estate predictions for 2011 – released one day at a time. Enjoy!
7) Fewer Transactions = Fewer Commissions = Fewer Realtors
The number of Realtors has dropped considerably over the past few years, and with the market still headed in the same direction – numbers will likely continue to dip. In some area’s, National Association of Realtor (NAR) membership has been cut nearly in half since 2007. Many speculate that it’s simply part-time Realtors getting out of the business…but I’ve met several full-time Realtors who have moved on to different full time positions because of so few transactions to be had.
With more bank-owned and short sale transactions taking a chunk of available transactions – there are often fewer sales to be shared amongst neighborhood experts and buyers agents. Expect fewer real estate agents in your area!
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s prediction!
