After seeing more and more people utilizing twitter (millions and millions, to be more precise), I jumped in and actually really enjoy seeing updates from people that I’m interested in. I can follow marketing experts, my favorite comedians (Steve Martin, Bill Cosby, Conan O’Brien, etc.), my favorite sports figures (mostly Seattle Sports guys), family, friends, and financial experts.
Although I’m new to tweeting, I can already tell that there are a few keys to creating a successful account…and it’s different than facebook, a blog, or other social media:
1) Consistency in 140 characters or less: It takes time, consistency, and patience. Like anything, something that is consistently nurtured is going to be healthier.
2) Short & Sweet Marketing: You’ve got to give people a reason to click on your links. Once there – make it quick and easy to share. Then move on. Twitter is for short attention spans, and that’s fine. Use it for what it is.
3) It’s got to be personal: You can make it about business, just make sure to add in some of your own flavor too – otherwise you’re not giving anyone a person to connect with.
If you’d like to connect in person to discuss social media (or any type of marketing), please don’t hesitate to let me know! Of course – you can also find me on twitter & would love to have you follow my account! www.twitter.com/seattle_realtor
